Attracting Clients for Your Virtual Bookkeeping Business

Before we dive into today’s episode, I’d like to highlight a couple of things:

First, we are celebrating the 1-year anniversary of the podcast. It’s exciting to hit this 1-year mark, because it’s one of the success metrics I committed to when I started. I believe this demonstrates the commitment we have to the community of our listeners and financial support profesionals.

The second thing I wanted to highlight is that we have a new name: The Bookkeeper Basecamp Podcast! I talk about the reason for this decision more inside the episode, and all of our social media handles have been changed to align with the new name of the podcast. So wherever you are in the journey to profitable bookkeeper, you’ll be able to find the resources to help you on any of our platforms @bookkeeperbasecamp. (Links are also included at the bottom of this post).

So, let’s dive into today’s topic.

When folks join my free Facebook group, The Bookkeeper Basecamp, we ask them 3 questions. One of them is, “What is one thing you are struggling with most right now?”

The answer that I get most often by far is: finding clients.

If that is you, let me say that I completely understand. Here’s something to think about: the energy that you put out there when it comes to positioning and marketing yourself is extremely important. So it’s now time for you to remove the phrase “finding clients” from your lexicon. Instead, let’s reframe that as “attracting clients” instead.

The reason that I consider this to be the #1 thing for you to do right now is that you want to be the flame, the destination for your clients. That also means you have to show up in your business as THE place to be for your clients. That’s what will attract your ideal clients to you.

That being said, there are 4 things that typically stop us from attracting the clients we want.

In this episode, I dive deep into each of these and how you can start to fix them so that you can attract the kinds of clients you want for your business:

1. Lack of clarity
2. Lack of confidence
3. Inconsistency
4. Sameness

If any of these hit home for you, then you need to make some changes in your client attraction strategy.

I talk about these a lot in my free communities, as well, so if you need some help, check out these resources:

Revenue Rock-Star Quiz — use this quiz to better understand your unique strengths as a virtual bookkeeper, and what areas you should focus your energy on. It’s completely free and takes less than 20 minutes to complete and get your results.

Once you get your quiz results, come on over to The Bookkeeper Basecamp group on Facebook and share what you got! I can’t wait to connect with you over there.

And, as always, you can find us on Instagram @bookkeeperbasecamp.
