Change your Download folder!

I don’t know about you but I download a ton of stuff (files, pictures, videos, documents, etc) to my computer while researching on the internet. Typically the downloads folder is a folder located on your hard drive. Because I use multiple computers and devices & want to have seamless access to my stuff, I was spending time moving downloads from that hard drive to my Dropbox account.

The Fix?

Change the download destination from the beginning. I can access Dropbox directly from my hard drive. This should work if you use other storage tools like Google Drive too.

To do this, I first created a new folder in Dropbox called “Downloads” (or whatever you choose). Next, go into the settings of your internet browser and look for the Downloads option. This is found under “Advance Settings” in Chrome. Change the path from the current location to the new folder you created in Dropbox. Do this for each computer or device you use.

Voila! That’s it! Now, all my downloads across all my computers (desktop, laptop, etc) easily go to the same place! I don’t have to try to remember which computer I was on when I downloaded the file. And the other benefit is it saves my hard drive space and saves me in case my computer crashes! It’s a Triple Win!!

*Note: I have the premium version & pay for extra storage in Dropbox, so I have a TON of space and don’t worry about running out any time soon.

Try it & let me know how it works for you!
